Disclaimer: I am not a Justin Bieber fan.
I just saw Justin's new video for the song "Pray." I stumbled upon it on the internet and decided to see what all the buzz was about.
When it first began, I could only think of it as a knock off of "Man In The Mirror." I thought maybe he was trying to go with that ditsy claim Usher made after the AMAs ("Michael Jackson")But then I kept watching. The video features clips of people in rough situations (Homeless, disabled, terminally ill, etc).
There is so much pain in this world. People always talk about it, but wouldn't it be great if people DID more about it! It's so easy to walk past people begging on the street, or to ignore Haitian earthquake victims, for instance, but when will we remember that these victims are people?
Put yourself in their shoes. How would you feel if something drastic were to happen? As much as Americans would like to think so, the United States is not immune to acts of God. Will it take one for us to wake up? I pray it doesn't.
Christmas time is coming around. Lots of people would love to give their children gifts, but don't even know if they will be able to feed them on that special day. Volunteer to help at a shelter, donate a toy, spend time with kids who will spend the holiday in a hospital bed. How will you help? In the words of Justin Bieber, the first thing you can do is close your eyes and pray.
